Got a quote through Qantas for $85 when making the booking. Picked up my car in this agency, no comment or explanation whatsoever was made on additional charges that were charged to my credit card after the fact: $$$ per extra kilometre (no reference to a limit on kilometres at all done beforehand) and 19% surcharge due to "the remoteness of the location". Total rip off. Rent somewhere else.
Charged $85 extra after returning car with full tank and no problems with no explanation offered. Nil person at desk to hand keys back to so dropped in key box. Ripoff agency and prices. Poor service.
I have never had any troubles with rental cars in my many years of car hire... (I know - incredible huh!) - that was until I hired from these guys! The desk is usually unattended (the only desk in that whole info centre that is unattended) so I had to wait for 30 mins with a toddler until someone arrived at the service desk even though it was apparently open at 10am. And that was only because another customer before me had enough of waiting and called the 'courtesy desk' number to tell them to show up! When I finally got the keys and got to the carpark, it was the only service garage unattended so I had to then come back to the desk as there was no baby seat in the car even after confirming it when picking up the keys (they should also check the expiry of your seats as this one looked shockingly old!). Then we had no one there to talk to when we handed the keys back at 9.45am on Sunday (the sign said someone would be back at the desk at 2.30pm - why bother even coming back at that time?!).Final straw was my that my 'closed rental agreement' then changed MOST of the itemised charges from the original rental agreement I had signed on key pick up - so they took off $51 from our deposit without any explanation. I emailed them last Tuesday and explained all this - all I got was the standard "Your email is being attended to by our Customer Relations team. We will endeavour to resolve your enquiry as soon as possible." it has now been 8 days and NOTHING!!! Oh and don't bother putting all this stuff in their customer service survey they send you afterwards - no one even reads it or gets in touch with you to discuss. Absolutely zero customer care.I will NEVER hire through Thrifty again... I was trying to save a few bucks but I've now spent more time and money using them.
